Privacy Policy

Recload — Privacy Policy

Recload is a desktop application that records your gameplay on your own computer, edits it into a video, and — on plans that include it, and with your permission — uploads it to your own YouTube channel. This policy explains what we do and don't collect.

The short version

What we collect and why

1. Your Recload account. Recording needs a free Recload account. We store your email address and a securely hashed password with Supabase, our account and database provider, together with your account settings (for example whether your email is verified and whether two-factor sign-in is on) and your Styles, so they follow you to any Mac you sign in on. One-time verification codes are emailed to you through Resend, our email provider. To prevent abuse, we record IP addresses and account IDs against rate limits on sign-in, checkout and waitlist requests. See https://supabase.com/privacy and https://resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

2. Billing (via Stripe). When you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe collects your payment details; we do not store card numbers. We receive limited billing data (email, subscription status, country for tax) to manage your subscription. See Stripe's privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.

3. Licensing. To unlock the app we store a licence reference against your subscription record so that an active subscription can be validated. We do not collect a device identifier, and there is no limit on the number of your own devices. We do not store your name or location for licensing.

4. YouTube access (Google OAuth, Premium). If you connect YouTube, Google asks you to grant permission using the scopes youtube.upload and youtube.force-ssl. The resulting access token is stored locally on your computer only and is used solely to upload videos to your channel and, if you enable it, add uploads to a playlist. We never receive or store your Google credentials or token.

5. Title/description writer (currently off). Titles and descriptions are currently filled in from a local template, and no transcript leaves your machine. Recload can instead send the text transcript of what you say in a recording, through our server, to Anthropic to write a title and description. That is switched off today; we will update this policy before switching it on. See Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

6. Website analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics on recload.com. It is cookieless and records page views and referrers in aggregate — which pages are visited and which site or link sent you. It does not set tracking cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and does not build an advertising profile. See Vercel's privacy policy at https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

7. Launch waitlist (optional). Before Recload opens for download you can give us an email address to be told when it does. If you do, we store only that address, the date, and — where the link you arrived from carried one — a short tag naming which platform it came from (for example discord), so we can tell which of them people actually came through. We use it for one thing: a single email when the download opens. We do not add you to a mailing list, do not send anything else, and do not share or sell it. Ask us at support@recload.com and we will delete it.

Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

Recload's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, data obtained via Google / YouTube APIs is used only to provide and improve the video-upload features you request, is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide those features or as required by law, is not used for advertising, and is not read by humans except with your consent, for security, or to comply with the law.

How to revoke access

You can disconnect Recload from your Google account at any time from your Google Account security settings: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. You can cancel your subscription at any time (see our Refund Policy). The Google token is stored in Recload's data folder (~/Library/Application Support/Recload), not inside the app itself, so deleting that folder removes it from your device; deleting only the app does not.

Data retention

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at support@recload.com to exercise them.

Children

Recload is not directed to children under 13. Follow YouTube's own age requirements for creators.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted at https://www.recload.com/privacy with a new effective date.
