Recload — Privacy Policy

Recload is a desktop application that records your gameplay on your own computer,
edits it into a video, and — with your permission — uploads it to **your own
YouTube channel**. This policy explains what we do and don't collect.
The short version
- The heavy lifting (recording, editing, transcription) happens **on your
computer**. Your raw footage and finished videos stay on your device; we never
receive them.
- We only handle the minimum needed to (a) take payment, (b) check your
subscription is active, and (c) generate video titles if you enable the AI
writer.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we collect and why
1. Account & billing (via Stripe). When you subscribe, payment is processed by
Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe collects your payment details; we do not
store card numbers. We receive limited billing data (email, subscription status,
country for tax) to manage your subscription. See Stripe's privacy policy at
https://stripe.com/privacy.
2. Licensing. To unlock the app we store your license key and a random
device identifier (generated on your machine, not tied to your identity) so
that a subscription can be validated and limited to a set number of devices. This
is stored with your subscription record at Stripe. We do not store your name or
location for licensing.
3. YouTube access (Google OAuth). If you connect YouTube, Google asks you to
grant permission using the scopes youtube.upload and youtube.force-ssl. The
resulting access token is stored locally on your computer only and is used
solely to upload videos to your channel and, if you enable them, add uploads to a
playlist and post a first comment. **We never receive or store your Google
credentials or token.**
4. AI title/description (optional). If you provide an AI API key and enable
the feature, the text transcript of what you say in a recording is sent to
Anthropic to generate a title and description. This is optional; without it, a
local template is used and no transcript leaves your machine. See Anthropic's
privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
5. Website analytics (if any). [If you add analytics, disclose the provider
and what it collects here. If you use none, state "We do not use analytics or
tracking cookies on our website."]
Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure
Recload's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to
the [Google API Services User Data
Policy](https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy),
including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, data obtained via Google
/ YouTube APIs is used only to provide and improve the video-upload features
you request, is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to
provide those features or as required by law, is not used for advertising, and
is not read by humans except with your consent, for security, or to comply
with the law.
How to revoke access
You can disconnect Recload from your Google account at any time from your Google
Account security settings: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. You can
cancel your subscription at any time (see our Refund Policy). Deleting the app
removes the locally stored Google token from your device.
Data retention
- Locally stored data (recordings, videos, your Google token, settings) remains on
your device until you delete it.
- Billing/licensing records are retained by Stripe and by us for as long as your
subscription is active and as required for tax and legal purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights to
access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at
[privacy@yourdomain] to exercise them.
Children
Recload is not directed to children under [13/16, per your jurisdiction]. Follow
YouTube's own age requirements for creators.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted at
[SITE_URL]/privacy with a new effective date.
